Started a fire in a stream
They said it couldn’t be done
Ran a race against a cheetah
Because they said it couldn’t be won.
Tiptoed around the truth
Until you’ve forgotten how to lie
Set myself ablaze in a desert
To show you I can die.
Ran my hands down my legs
All the way to my feet
The mud fell from everywhere
Because they knew we’d never meet.
Told thousands of times
Nobody would ever love me
Built huge walls of brick and mortar
So nobody could hear the plea.
I’ve always thought a battle raging
Was simply delightful fun
But when it came to actually winning
They always said it couldn’t be done.
